Hinkley High School Reviews

The IB Program and teachers are great. The 2007 Colorado State Teacher of the Year resides there, as do many other award winning and distinguished faculty. Sports programs suffer from lack of participation. The facility is new and beautiful. Definitely the diamond in the rough for HSs in Colorado.

I am a former student of Hinkley High School. I'd definitely rate this school high in extra-curicular activities. I was thoroughly encouraged by my art and music teachers to get involved. The teachers I had also cared wether or not students put forth their effort into classes. My science teacher was creative in teaching physics and biology. And my math teacher also sat with me after hours to make sure I understood the subject. The kids can be a little rough, and so is the area..but in comparison to the cherry creek schools I went to. I think the aurora public schools rate much higher in extra-curriculars and probing interests outside of academia.

There is little dicipline - students are rude to adults. The principal is in over his head! Other administrators have no clear job responsibilities. Teachers are the only ones trying - at least some.

I'm a current student at hinkley high school and I believe it's a great school. Over the past years we've been going through renovations which, indeed, improved the school's look and school's reputation. Also, I feel safe when I'm at hinkley. Our administration is great, our security is great, knowing that Coach Graham will check IDs whenever someone walks in the doorway. The teachers know what they are doing and don't fall back. Test scores might not be 'great' but we have a student graduating with a perfect SAT score. Our principal Mr. Mosby is one of the best so far, he hangs with the students and chats with everyone.

My daughter, a former student that attended hinkley in the past. I have recently been reaquainted to the school due to my younger son being enrolled there. As I give him some advice on what classes really helped my daughter suceed in school and in life itself, I notice that many of the outstanding classes she attended have vanished into thin air. I am greatly disapointed in the standards that Hinkley has fallen into, and I am even reconsidering transfering my young son.

Hinkley High School has greatly changed throughoutly and significantly from the last year to this year. This school has gotten a face-lift with its new construction, allowing the students to be proud of their school. As for the academic programs, it has the International Programme (IB), which is an international school found in more than 50 countries around the world. This program allows students to get college credit as well as learn in this vigorous program great qualities that they can use for life. The music program is not limited, but not the greatest. As for the art department, this school has great teachers allowing students to express themselves through drawing, jewelry, and ceramics. There are plenty of sports and extracurricular activities for these students, and parent involvement, unfortunetly, is very limited. Altogether, Hinkley High is a great school, and is very understated from its past reputation, but now is worthwhile.

off hand I would like to say that I think this school has good potential however I believe that they don't use it to the fullest. Some things improve and some don't. Security Guards have became better but on the other hand there school activities are not the greatest. I feel that this school should be more into making things for kids to do. Hinkley has half the sports, clubs and activities for kids to do these days and thats what they need to stay involved and off the streets.

contains the IB program, which allows students to earn two years worth of college credit. The level of parent involvement is poor, so is the area. The athletics are good, but art and music classes are limited. The volleyball team there once won the city championships. I would say that almost everything is good except for the area that its in, by Colfax ave. Everyone knows what Colfax is known for, and ots not a great place for your children to be around.
