Liberty Middle School Reviews

Teachers lack the ability and desire to create an enviroment conducive to a Good Learning Experince ... This ultimately lends itself to the kids not learning the basics needed to compete in a Real World , Competitive Enviroment . This School epitomizes the Failures of our Public School System !!!

We're relocating, but I did want to leave a positive comment about Liberty. The nature of middle schools make them tough to suit all students, but my daughter excelled in the GT (gifted program) and she'll be ONE year ahead at her new school. That's a bummer for her, but indicative of the strong GT program. My son also attended 3 years in the standard program. The classes were not nearly as good as his sister's and I feel that faculty leadership could turn this around. With a new school opening, it will take down the population of this large middle school and that in itself will help the staff/faculty/students get back on the track to excellence. My children will be well prepared for new schools in another state due to Liberty MS, so for that, thanks Liberty!

We've had 2 children attend this school. Our first had a good experience and the majority of teachers and staff seemed genuinely concerned about his academic sucess. Since then, our 2nd child has had a different experience. Turn over in general seems to be an issue now. Some of the teachers that previously seemed dedicated to their mission now seem indifferent and just going through the motions. I've also noticed an increase in vague and subjective grading criteria for 'presentation' assignments in a variety of classes. I don't see that as a good way to prepare students for high school where the grading criteria is much more rigid.

Our third child will be leaving Liberty this year, and it can't come too soon. The teachers don't care, won't respond to the most basic requests and lack either the ability or the desire to see all students find success. The administration is a revolving door and those who stay are inneffective and incapable of doing the right thing. As an experienced educator, I believe that this school fails on every level that counts. I found almost everyone (save for a few caring souls) heartless, egotistical and lazy.

My son has been at Liberty for 3 years, and I'm so glad he's almost done. The expectations are very high but there's little or no support for 'average' students to raise their grades. Powerschool is a joke, it is seldom updated, and when it is it's inaccurate.

I would NOT recommend Liberty! My son completed 3 yrs at Liberty & it was 3 yrs of dealing w/overly controlling, inexperienced teachers who lack the skills to deal with middle school students. Besides the lack of a positive learning environment, administration perpetuated the culture of fear by using confrontational and punitive methods to deal with any and all discipline issues within the school. The AIM program is a joke--any child can be accepted. It just takes a parent to make a phone call to the administration. Also, there are no honors classes offered to students outside of AIM. Let us hope that the new principal for the 2008-09 school year will do what is needed & make some real changes. I have a GT 4th grader at a feeder school that is suppose to attend Liberty--he will be attending Sky Vista Middle School instead.

We've had two kids at Liberty. It is a great school with all kinds of programs for kids (AVID, AIM, etc.). The teachers are great and I love their sports because everyone makes the team.

We were advised by my daughters teacher to place her at Liberty due to its outstanding academic program, teachers are fantastic, administration leaves a lot to be desired.

One child just completed 3 years at Liberty Middle School in the AIM program. Have been very pleased with academics, staff and enviroment. Would like to see more extracurricular activities and social activities for all grades. Would highly recommend this school.

Overall, I am satisfied. I have only had one teacher that has yet to communicate back with me which is frustrating, especially when we were called in to a parent-teacher conference regarding her difficulty in adjustment to new school and new state. She validated that my daughter had more to give but 'just gave enough', which I agreed with. But, in a time where many parents don't make the effort to care, one would think that when parents do express concern and desire to help their child through the rough spots, the teacher would at least respond. My daughter is a minority and has never been made to feel she is unsafe. I have had good experience with all other teachers....

This school is not very good. The AIM program is good though. Some parents say that it is confidence flushing, but that is not true. If a student tries, then it is very easy to succeed. And there is no extra credit because AIM prepares kids for life, and in life, there is not extra credit. The problem I have with this school is the limited understanding of self defense. Also, some teachers are very poor instructors.

I have had nothing but issues with this school, since day one, A lot of fighting, not enough security guards on duty. I am not happy with this school at all. I am currently looking into moving my child now! He is a honor roll student.

Aim program is good but I feel that it limits children as they are unable to do extra credit if they want to. I can't believe this program does not allow for the students to increase their grades if in their minds it is needed. It stifles their creativity and indicates that a lower grade is just as good if you are in AIM and I don't agree. Children should have that option whether in AIM or regular classes to maintain the grade point average they hope to have.

I go to this school and I love it! I always fell safe. Thanks Liberty Middle School!

My daughter has been going to liberty for the past 2 years and it has been a great experience. The teachers are very good and the kids feel safe.

MOST teachers are wonderful. But, there are a number of instructors and administrators who are missing communication skills, follow-through, leadership skills.

Great experience so far, My daughter is in 6th grade. However, wish I had more info. on the AIM program. Some kids are really struggling, some do great. Not much info. given to parents about the program.

Availability of music art etc quite good. Not so responsive to new kids esp from different cultures - we are considering removal as grades are falling.

Liberty Middle School has been the best place for me to learn.

Liberty is a great school overall. Class sizes are average. The building is goregous and in great condition. However, I feel that they are sometimes to strict when it comes to discipline.

Definitely not impressed. My child is in the AIM program and I am disgusted with it. It is a confidence flushing program. Challenge is not giving typically 'A' students 'C''s & 'D''s. I find some of the teachers rather unresponsive.

Definitely not impressed. My child is in the AIM program which I understood to be more 'college-like' in material presentation. Truth? It is a homework intensive, confidence flushing program. Some of the teachers don't even respond to your e-mail.

Fabulous school. Wish they had more extra curricular activities other than sports such as debate team.

Liberty middle school parent involvement is non-existant. They expect these children to perform and behave as adults yet do not give the resources and adult would have available in the job force. They have their 'homework' hot line which is never updated and the 'power school' - with a space for teachers comments but you will not find any. I do not feel it is the schoold responsibility to raise my child, but it is their responsibility to give me the tools and feed back i need to do it. Do i need to go to school daily to get the information i need?

I very much do not reccomend this school to anyone. Liberty is still a new school and hasn't caught up to all the rules that other schools follow like Thunder Ridge Middle School.

I have been extremely impressed with the quality of the teachers at Liberty. I would highly recommend this school to anyone! Great job, Liberty!
